New tea shop to open soon at Destiny USA

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A new tea shop is set to open soon at Destiny USA.

Kung Fu Tea is expected to open in early June. The tea shop, which is currently under construction, will be located in a 700-square-foot store near Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters on the second floor of Destiny USA's Canyon Cafe.

The shop specializes in bubble tea, a trend that started in Taiwan in 1980s. Bubble tea is traditionally made with a tea base, fruit or milk, and chewy tapioca pearls. The tea is served hot or cold and Kung Fu Tea has numerous flavors.

"Kung Fu Tea is a bubbly, exciting brand that our guests will absolutely love at Destiny USA," Destiny USA Director of Marketing Aiden McGuire said in a news release. "Its bubble tea selection is unique, playful, fun and a wonderful addition to our growing lineup of Canyon Cafe offerings."

Kung Fu Tea has more than 250 locations worldwide. There are 26 Kung Fu Tea locations in New York and many are located on college campuses, including one at the University of Buffalo.
